‘Til all have heard…

Missions at Beacon Baptist Church means fulfilling the Great Commission by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ through evangelism, discipleship, training, church planting, and church development according to the Biblical pattern of Acts 1:8. The importance of meeting other human needs while carrying on any of these ministries is recognized.

Missions at Beacon

Beacon currently supports 19 missionary families serving in 15 countries of the world: Nigeria, Far East Asia, Brazil, Peru, Canada, Romania, Israel, Palau, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Ecuador, Ireland, Spain, and the United States.  To get current information on what is happening with these missionaries, join Beacon’s Missions Facebook page by clicking here and clicking the box on the top right that says “Ask to Join Group.”
Beacon is also the sending church for Joe and Heidi DePuy, missionaries serving in church planting and leadership development in Latin America. As a young teen in our church, Joe, through various short-term missions trips, was deeply burdened by the Lord to play a big part in fulfilling the Great Commission. After a first term of ministry in Mexico City, the Lord has most recently placed his family in Cuenca, Ecuador where they are working in a local church to develop a team of church leaders with hopes to see them one day begin planting churches on their own. Missions Giving

Less than 4% of the mission budget is supplied from the Church’s general fund.  The majority of the funds for missions come from a program called “Faith Promise.”

What is Faith Promise?

  • Giving to missions above someone’s tithe
  • Giving what God lays upon someone’s heart when asking in prayer
  • Faithfully giving that amount which God supplies
  • Relying on the principle that no one can out-give God
So why do we believe in this?  Where does this philosophy come from?  Here are some principles we have considered with our approach to faith promise:
  • We Give As God Directs:
     – Everyone gives as he is able. (2 Corinthians 8:12; Deuteronomy 16:17)
     – Receive back as you have given. (Luke 6:38)
  • We Lend To The Lord:
     – Lend, and He will repay. (Proverbs 19:17)
     – Lend, hoping for nothing in return, and receive great reward.
       (Luke 6:35, 36)

Missions Involvement:

One of the simplest ways to get involved is by:

PRAYING – Missionary prayer lists are provided monthly and missionary letters are available in the folders at the missions display in the church foyer. The Beacon Journal, a journal given out to members and regular attenders, also has the pictures of all of our missionaries.  A second practical way to get involved is by:

GIVING – Our Faith Promise campaign is held annually in the fall.  Another way to get involved is by:

GOING – Going on a short-term mission trip to see a missionary you know or to discover the Lord’s will for your life involving future missions. To learn more about these and other opportunities in missions, contact Pastor Vic Watkins (Missions Committee Chairman).
